Sally from Elementary Matters is a longtime blogger and curriculum developer. Her site was established around 2013, and there are many posts containing solid teaching ideas and lessons on the site. Her original site was the old Blogger style design which was not mobile responsive, so a theme replacement was needed. She chose the Penelope theme from Jedi Themes on Etsy, and then the customizing began.
With all Blogger themes, there are great restrictions, but we can always repurpose sections and customize as we like many areas of the page. This takes time as the theme is edited to fit the needs we have.
About the Elementary Matters:
Sally wasn’t sure whether she wanted to migrate to WordPress or stay with Blogger and update for her Elementary Matters site. After seeing a few of the Blogger updates I had done, she opted to stick with what was familiar. She decided the maintenance and expense of WordPress was not what she really wanted to do at this time, so for her site, we chose the Penelope theme. It really offered many of the things she was looking for…a hero section to highlight her main pages, a section for featured posts and latest posts, and a shop section.
